New Cable Modem and Possible Root Cause for Failure

Setting up new cable modem can be a hassle, because you have to sync it up with the cable company, which usually takes a few calls to customer support. I recently replaced a bad cable modem with a Cisco/Linksys CM100 Cable Modem Refurbished. I think the old one failed because of poor power conditioning, although I cannot confirm this. See my earlier post on Protecting Your Electronic Hardware from the Power Company to try and prevent this.

It's a good modem, but be sure you are not dependent upon (or looking to upgrade to) DOCSIS 3.0 reliant cable Internet speeds. Whether or not this matters is dependent upon your cable ISP.
